Started in 1932 by Ray Whimmer as The Overhead Door Company of Toledo™, we are the oldest operating garage door company in Toledo, Ohio. We are proudly celebrating our 95th year serving the Toledo Area. Over our years of operation, we have evolved and expanded to further serve our customers. 

In 1982, the owner at the time, Lee Huss, founded the fireplace division of the company, originally designed to serve the builder and contractor community.  Today, Fireside Hearth and Home of Toledo proudly sells industry leading gas and wood burning fireplaces and accessories, supported by our own factory trained and certified installers and service technicians.  

In 1986, in partnership with Kevin Krabach, the window and entry door division was established and continues to operate under Kevin’s management. Today, Architect’s Choice is your choice for energy efficient new and replacement windows and entry doors near Toledo.  Our team wants you to understand all the parts of your window before you invest in the best quality windows in Toledo, Ohio.

In 1996, our first Overhead showroom was opened to display our quality products, serving both our builder and retail market customers. At the same time, it was decided to add BBQ grills and patio furniture to the showroom. 

In 1999, Lee’s son, Mark Huss, opened business for commercial roofing and sheet metal installations and service. Overhead Roofing and Sheet Metal is your reliable source for repairs and service on your commercial roof and proud to be a Master Installer of Duro-Last roofing.  

In 2007, an opportunity to expand its operations into the Sandusky, Ohio area. Sandusky Door and Hearth proudly services Sandusky, Ohio customers for their garage door and fireplaces needs. 

In 2012, ownership of the company transitioned to Lee’s other son Michael Huss who continues to act as the president of the company.
